The Community Center Group brings together residents who would like to have a community center as a gathering space, pre-school and after-school hub as well as providing youth and family programming, senior support services and recreation, adult health, and fitness programs and more.
what we do:
Our group is tasked with gathering data and information to support the center, services, programs and recreation activities. We will assess facility site(s), determine use of existing buildings or new build, identify funding sources and consider sustainability.
our goals for this year:
Identify and meet with stakeholders
Set and prioritize goals and strategies to achieve our goals
Define deliverables
Create the project schedule
Identify issues and complete a risk assessment
Present the project plan to the community and to all stakeholders during a kick-off event in early spring
what's happening?
This group is currently inactive and seeking leadership.
An email invitation to join the workgroup was sent to the 20+ residents that volunteered to work on this project. With limited numbers of people responding, a “planning meeting” was held in lieu of a full workgroup meeting. Attendees identified following considerations to be addressed before the spring kick-off event include:
Organization of the workgroup
Gathering data and information that will support the need for the center as well as specific services, programs and recreation activities
Consider the size and catchment area of the proposed Community Center
Facility site or sites; existing building or new build
Funding to bring this project forward
Consideration of sustainability
